Plot

Light Yagami is a gifted student who finds school unbearably dull, until a black notebook falls from the sky. Its rule is simple and terrifying: anyone whose name is written in it dies. Convinced he can use it to make the world a better place, Light starts to judge criminals from the shadows. The world soon notices, and the case lands on the desk of L, an eccentric and brilliant detective who will do anything to find out who is behind the deaths. What follows is a tense battle of wits between two minds who never stop trying to outsmart each other.
